Robert E. Akeson is Managing Director, Investment Banking at Riverside Management Group (“RMG”), where he focuses on fintech and asset management companies. Since 1996, RMG has provided financial advisory and investment banking services to companies, funds and entrepreneurs. Previously, he was Chief Operating Officer and Co-Head of Prime Brokerage at Mirae Asset Securities (USA).
Mr. Akeson has extensive experience managing prime brokerage, capital introduction, agency execution and research distribution businesses. He has also served as a member of the G.P. of a hedge fund and had advisory board experience with small money management firms. His background includes leadership positions with Neuberger Berman, Morgan Stanley, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Financial Services and ADP BISG.
Mr. Akeson is a frequent speaker on topics related to the hedge fund industry, prime brokerage, market liquidity and Basel III. He is Chairman of the Business Management Interest Group of the New York Society of Security Analysts, the DTCC Systemic Risk Roundtable and the Economic Club of New York. Mr. Akeson has also taught Money, Banking and Financial Markets at Molloy College.
Mr. Akeson holds an MBA from NYU and a BA from Washington College. He resides in Rockville Centre, N.Y. with his wife, with whom he has two grown children.
